Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig: Slot Overview
It might not have conquered the fishing sector of the online gambling market, but software provider Play’n GO has made numerous attempts through its Boat Bonanza line of fishing slots. It appears the studio took a little break from angling, but still felt the urge to pull in prizes from the reels. A compromise has been struck in the form of Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig, which is essentially a reskin of Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch, a not overly colossal slot that nevertheless provided an alternative way for fish slot enthusiasts to get their kicks. The question now is what suits the mechanics best, fishing or leprechauns?
Mining and fishing might not be closely related, but both require participants to dig in, get their hands dirty, and pull resources from Mother Earth. There’s nothing dirty about Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig, though. This attractive mine area is kept well hydrated by a cascading waterfall, while precious gems literally poke out from the ground. However, there’s also nothing about Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig that immediately stands out. It all looks pretty much how a low-key leprechaun/mine-themed slot might appear. Still, shamrocks abound, leprechauns appear in carts, and a jolly tune adds joy to the ears.

Players can join the dig by choosing a stake of 10c min up to a max of $/€50 per spin. Rumbling away at the bottom of a long, dark mine shaft is a medium volatile math model, where of the five RTP configurations, 96.2% is the most favourable number. When hitting the play button, a 5×4 grid spins and creates winning combinations with the help of 12 paylines, all starting from the leftmost reel.
When 5 OAK winning combinations form, players collect 10 times their stake when the winning symbols are 10 to A card ranks, or 50x to 200x when made up of wheels, picks, lanterns, and hats. Diamonds are money symbols, but they can form winning lines as well, worth up to 40x the bet. Like its boaty brother, Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig doesn’t have wild symbols.
Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig: Slot Features

Instead of boats collecting fish money symbols, we’ve got minecarts collecting Diamonds via the Reel Blast or the Mega Blast events. Blast your way into the free spins bonus round, and it is possible to have a multiplier of up to x25 applied to Diamond collection wins.
Minecart Collection
There are two mine carts above the reels. On any spin, a leprechaun may peek out from the mine carts, making them lucky (activating them). Both mine carts may become lucky on any spin and trigger either Reel Blast or Mega Blast, depending on their final position and whether there are any Diamond symbols to be collected. Diamond symbols may appear on any reel and have prize values of 1x to 50x the bet.
- Reel Blast – when one Lucky Minecart is above a reel, it collects all Diamond symbols on the reel beneath it.
- Mega Blast – when both Lucky Minecarts are above the same reel, all Diamond symbols on the grid are collected.
Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, or 5 scatters in the base game triggers 10 free spins. If 4 or 5 scatters land, players also collect a payout of 20x or 100x, respectively. Both minecarts are lucky on every free spin, so they are always able to trigger Reel Blast or Mega Blast features. Lucky Clover symbols may appear in free spins, and can be collected by Lucky Minecarts. When collected, the Lucky Clover symbol increases the Mega Blast Multiplier Meter above the reels. When the meter reaches a set level, a multiplier will apply to all Diamond symbol winnings during the Mega Blast, and free spins are awarded. Collecting 3, 6, 9, or 12 Lucky Clovers awards an x2 multiplier and +8 spins, an x5 multiplier and +6 spins, an x10 multiplier and +4 spins, or an x25 multiplier and +2 spins, respectively.

Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig: Slot Verdict
Leprechauns, mining, and a hint of fishing, three of the most popular, some might consider clichéd concepts to be used in slots, all rolled together in one convenient place. That thought might be as thrilling for some gamblers’ ears as it is repelling to others. However you feel about Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig, one thing we can probably all agree on is that a distinct lack of originality was poured into the game. Firstly, because it is a reskin of Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch, secondly, because instead of the seven seas, we’ve got a leprechaun in a mine. It’s like a meeting of the commonplace, a game with very little exciting, creative thought to offer.
Gripes aside, Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig was okay to review, not terrible, but it’s certainly nothing special. If you’ve played the boat game, there will be nothing here you haven’t seen before. In saying that, Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch wasn’t the most original slot either, blending elements of Big Time Gaming‘s Golden Catch with the Big Bass Bonanza experience. The latter influence is felt more so in free spins, where it is possible to collect symbols, in this instance, Clover symbols, in order to win extra spins and multipliers. Oh well, it’s all cheerfully executed if you like this sort of thing.
Like Colossal Catch, the max win in Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig is difficult to classify as colossal capped as it is at 3,000 times the bet. All in all, it’s kind of odd that a studio of Play’n GO’s expertise and experience has fallen back on a game so bereft of creativity or unique thinking, but given the developer’s recent track record, it’s no big surprise either.
